Why Stories Disappear and Why You Need a Downloader

On Android, saved stories usually appear in the Downloads folder. On iPhone, Safari may save the file to Files first, where you can move videos or photos into the Photos app. If the result is unavailable, the story may have expired, the account may be private, or Instagram may not expose a public media file for that story anymore.
